Scott and Ben chosen to attend the World Scout Jamboree in 2019
So the Cubs and Scouts were off on a joint adventure again! Linda has organised for the Cubs and Scouts to spend a long weekend at PGL Dalguise working together in mixed groups making new friends, completing new challenges and having an adventure!
A bus down on the Friday lunch time saw us arriving just in time for Friday nights dinner. A wide game of wacky races before getting into our accommodation for bed. Obviously it being our first night everyone was full of beans so it was a late one for us all!
Saturday saw us getting up early for breakfast then off on activities. Quick break for Lunch and a good amount of time at dinner time for everyone relax and play around with each other. On the Saturday night we played Cluedo – so everyone was out solving puzzles ad collect clues to figure out “who done it!”. It was the beautiful Miss Peacock – so we wetsecuted her!
Sunday was a similar set up but with rain for most of the day! Our evening activity was capture the flag.
On Monday we finished at lunch time after two activity sessions to head back on the bus for home again.
Just before we left we held a joint pack & troop forum to see what everyone enjoyed, what wasn’t so good and who deserved a shout out!
Mountain biking, Rifle shooting, fencing and rafting got two favourites; Giant swing, Tree Climb and Abseiling got three favourites but Canoeing got a huge thirteen! So we have a clear winner!
We discussed some of the things the young people weren’t such big fans of; some didn’t like the wet activities; some didn’t like the abseiling and jacobs ladder because of the heights; the Older Scouts didn’t like being in a room of ten; we didn’t like the weather and most didn’t like noisy annoying people in their rooms.
Shout outs for the Cubs, Scouts and leaders!
Ben was nice a kind, Joshua for trying new things, being brave and concurring fears, Mark for overcoming fears, Chris for being polite, a great leader, a friend to all and getting stuck in, Stuart for being nice, Lesley for being a lad, Angus for being a good friend, Nida and Katie for being brave and confident and so much more!
All the leaders and Sam from PGL got an extra big shout out for being amazing an providing such a great weekend for us all!
We took LOADS of photos and the best ones made it on to out Flickr page; check the out!
